Jambo Kenya Tour!

Day 1: Nairobi – Arrival

Depending on the timings of your international flight, on arrival at JKIA, our representative will meet you and do some introduction and briefs, Later you will be transferred to your pre-booked hotel, and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Meals and Overnight will be in Nairobi.

 

Day 2: Nairobi

After breakfast, our representative will drive you to Nairobi National park where you will have a morning game drive. At around 1100hrs you will visit The David Sheldrick National Wildlife Trust. This is an orphan-elephant rescue organization, devoted to conserving East Africa’s wildlife and habitats. Founded in 1977 by Dr. Dame Daphne Sheldrick in honor of her late husband and famous Warden of Tsavo East National Park, David Sheldrick, the trust is one of the most successful elephant and rhino rescue programs in the world.

You will proceed with your tour to the giraffe Centre. This centre protects the highly endangered Rothschild’s giraffe, combines serious conservation with enjoyable activities. You can observe, hand-feed or even kiss one of the giraffes from a raised wooden structure, which is quite an experience. You may also spot warthogs snuffling about in the mud, and there’s an interesting self-guided forest walk through the adjacent Gogo River Bird Sanctuary.

Board your van and continue to Karen Blixen Museum. You will have lunch here. If you loved the movie Out of Africa, you’ll love this place. This museum is the farmhouse where author Karen Blixen lived between 1914 and 1931. She left after a series of personal tragedies, but the lovely colonial house has been preserved as a museum. The museum is set in expansive gardens, and is an interesting place to wander around after the tour.

In the evening you will have dinner at the Bomas of Kenya with cultural dance entertainment. You will later be transferred to their hotel.

Overnight will be at Wildebeest eco Camp Nairobi.

 

Day 3: Nairobi – Naivasha – Hells Gate National Park.

After breakfast, our representative will drive you to Hell’s Gate National Park in Naivasha, which is approximately 2 hours’ drive. Named for the intense geothermal activity within its boundaries, the Hell’s Gate National Park is a remarkable quarter of the Great Rift Valley. Spectacular scenery including the towering cliffs, water-gouged gorges, stark rock towers, scrub clad volcanoes and belching plumes of geothermal steam make it one of the most atmospheric Parks in Africa. Hell’s Gate is an ideal venue for a day trip from Nairobi where, in addition to the bio-diversity that includes raptors, visitors can enjoy mountain biking, rock climbing and a natural spa. In the afternoon, you will be driven back to your hotel for check in, late Lunch and rest.

Day 4: Naivasha – Elementaita

After Breakfast, Enjoy boat rides on Lake Naivasha with chances of seeing Hippos and lots of birds. You will later check out of the hotel and travel to Lake Elementaita. You will check in, have lunch and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 5: Lake Elementaita – Lake Nakuru

Enjoy an early morning walk along Lake Elementaita with great chances of seeing lots of water birds. Visit the hot springs and return to the camp for breakfast.

After breakfast depart for Lake Nakuru National Park, which is approximately 2 hours drive. You will arrive in time for lunch, check in and spend the rest of the day enjoying Game Drives around the spectacular park.

Lake Nakuru National Park located in the Great Rift Valley. On the floor of the Great Rift Valley, surrounded by wooded and bushy grassland, lies the beautiful Lake Nakuru National Park. Visitors can enjoy the wide ecological diversity and varied habitats that range from Lake Nakuru itself to the surrounding escarpment and picturesque ridges. Lake Nakuru National Park is ideal for bird watching, hiking, picnic and game drives.

Day 6: Lake Nakuru – Lake Bogoria

After an early breakfast at the Lodge, you will have a morning gane drive. After check out, you will set out for our fifth leg of the safari, which takes you to Lake Bogoria located inside Lake Bogoria National Reserve. It is approximately 3 hours’ drive from Nakuru.You will arrive just in time for lunch at the hotel. The rest of the day will be spent at leisure.

Dinner and Overnight will be at Lake Bogoria Spa Resort.

 

Day 7: Lake Bogoria

After breakfast, this day will be spent exploring Lake Bogoria National Reserve – a saline water shallow located at the northern region of the Kenyan Rift, 25 kilometers south of Lake Baringo, on a game drive and walk around this spectacular lake in the heart of an arid landscape. The soda lake attracts massive flocks of flamingos and is often carpeted in pink, due to the high concentrations of flamingoes. Animal found in Lake Bogoria National Reserve include: Greater Kudu, Burchell’s Zebra warthogs, Forest hog Impala, Klipspringers, Cape buffalo, Patas Monkeys among others. Predators include genet, serval cat, cite and white tailed mongoose and cheetah.

You will also have a chance to see the Tugen traditional artifacts and have a unique and thrilling experience with the resident traditional dancers.

The western shore has hot springs and spouting geysers, spurting steam and bubbling geothermal pools. Fresh water springs at the lake edge attract an abundance of birds and wildlife. You will have lunch at the hotel.

Lake Bogoria geysers and hot springs are the major attractions which are at the central basin of the lake. Later in the evening you will return to the hotel.

Day 8: Lake Bogoria – Lake Baringo

After Breakfast, our representative will drive you to Lake Baringo, a fresh water Rift Valley lake, famous for its magnificent bird life. Lake Baringo is well known for two of its waters’ residents–Hippo and Crocodile. Hippos are seen in the lake on boat trips, and at Lakeside lodges and camps. They are seen also seen at night grazing the lawns.

You will check in and have lunch. The rest of the day will be spent exploring Lake Baringo and its surrounding.

Day 9: Lake Baringo – Nakuru

After breakfast, you will depart for Nakuru.  You will arrive in time for lunch, check in and spend the rest of the day at leisure. This will be a good chance to do shopping in Nakuru town.

Day 10: Nakuru – Thomson Falls

After early breakfast, drive to Thomson’s falls through Nakuru and stop briefly at Subukia Rift Valley view at the Equator point. Later proceed to Thomson’s Falls arriving for lunch at Thomsons Falls Lodge. Afternoon at relaxation by these 83 feet falls as you marvel at this natural wonder.

You will have the opportunity to explore the enchanting waterfalls that attract colorful birds and provide good photographic opportunities.

Other Activities to partake include: A nature walk to the base of Thomson Falls, Take a walk to Hippo point to look at the hippos up close, Trout fishing, a popular base for high altitude training, used by international athletes, Waterfalls attract colorful birds and provide good photographic opportunities.

You can relax on the lawn chair of the Thomson Falls Lodge, while reading your book, a nature trail at the base of the falls and through the gorge, is a safe haven for the endangered colobus monkeys, baboons and small animals.

Day 11: Nyahururu – Mt Kenya

After breakfast, you will start your journey to Mt Kenya National park which is approximately 5 hours’ drive. You will have lunch at Nanyuki town.

Later you will have game drives in Mt Kenya National Park where you will have clear views of the famous Mt. Kenya. Climbing to 5,199 meters, Mount Kenya is the second tallest mountain in Africa. The scenery surrounding this designated World Heritage Site is breath-taking. It is pristine wilderness with lakes, tarns, glaciers, dense forest, mineral springs and a selection of rare and endangered species of animals, high altitude adapted plains game and unique montane and alpine vegetation. Visitors can enjoy mountain climbing, camping and caving with the mountain’s rugged glacier-clad peaks providing the perfect backdrop.

Day 12: Mt Kenya – Ol Pejeta

After breakfast, you will travel to Ol Pejeta Conservancy where you will check into your tented camp and have lunch.

Your afternoon game drive will be done at the Chimpanzee Sanctuary, a haven for orphaned chimps that was established by the Jane Goodall Institute. Ol Pejeta has the highest ratio of game to area of any park or reserve in Kenya and it offers a great game viewing experience, camel tracking, lion tracking and al fresco dining.

Dinner and overnight stay at the Sweet Waters Serena Camp.

 

Day 13: Ol Pejeta Conservancy – Samburu

After an early breakfast, you will have a morning game drive at the conservancy. You will then check out and start off your journey to Samburu National reserve. The journey will take approximately 3 and half hours. You will have late lunch after check in. the rest of the day will be spent at leisure with an evening game drive.

Dinner and overnight will be at Samburu Shaba Game lodge.

 

Day 14: Samburu National Reserve / Buffalo Springs / Shaba National Reserve

You will have a pre breakfast game drive. After breakfast, the rest of the day will be spent in the 3 in 1 reserve. At lunch hour, our representative will transfer you to the hotel for lunch. Then later embark on game viewing drives.

Samburu National Reserve is situated on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River in Kenya. This means plenty of water, trees and shade to attract wildlife like elephant, lion, giraffe and zebra from the surrounding savannah plains. Leopards are also regularly spotted. Samburu Game Reserve is situated in the hot and arid fringes of Kenya’s vast Northern Frontier District.

The area is home to the Samburu tribe, pastoral relatives of the Masai. Samburu Reserve as a safari destination has rugged and dramatic landscape, the Ewaso Nyiro River runs along the southern boundary. You will have an hour or two to meet the community by visiting one of their villages.

Day 15: Samburu – Sagana

After an early morning game drive, you will have breakfast at the lodge. You will check out of the lodge and our representative will drive you to Sagana Rapid Camp which is approximately 5 hours’ drive. You will arrive just in time for lunch, check in and refresh.

In the afternoon, you will drive to Rapids Waterfalls located at the Camp. It is a camp that offers a range of services including white water rafting, ziplining and camping. They are located in Sagana Town along Murang’a Road. Here you will engage in various water activities.

Day 16: Sagana – Fourteen Falls – Nairobi

After breakfast at the camp, you will start your journey to Nairobi, which is approximately 2 hours drive. You will stop at The Fourteen Falls. Once at fourteen falls, a local guide will lead you down a rocky path to the near side base of the falls where you get a boat for crossing the river. Fourteen Falls derives the name from their 14 distinct waterfalls on the broad section of the famous Athi River. The experienced boat guides use a long pole, guiding the boat on a leisurely ride downstream, back upstream and across the river to a rocky bank on the far side. The view of the falls from the boat is extraordinary! You may spend a couple of hours strolling around the rocks at the base of the Falls and enjoy the fresh air, breathtaking view and local flora.

You will arrive Nairobi in the afternoon. After check in and late lunch, you will have an optional city tour. The rest of the day will be spent at leisure in preparation for more adventure. This is a good time to do shopping and rejuvenate you.

Day 17: Nairobi – Masai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast, you will check out and your adventure to the Masai Mara will begin. It is approximately 8 hours’ drive. On arrival at the lodge you will check-in and have late lunch. You will have an evening game drive around the park and later back to the hotel.

Considered to be the jewel and highlight of any Kenyan safari, you’ll be enchanted by the diversity of animals, and topography.  In late spring, the grazers mainly wildebeest, cross the river bordering Tanzania with Kenya and travel north to the Maasai Mara for the green grasses.  Of course, the predators follow.  Here there are sightings of lion, cheetah, elephant, giraffe, hyena, warthog, wildebeest, and zebra, just to name but a few.

Day 18: Masai Mara National Reserve

You will have an early morning game drive,  this being the best time to see animals as they roam the plains feeding before the heat of the day sends them to the shades, return to the lodge for a late buffet breakfast.  The rest of the morning will be spent at leisure with lunch till late afternoon where you will visit a Masai Village and a Masai School.  The Mara is the ancestral home of the ancient warrior people – the Maasai.  Fiercely proud and self- reliant, traditionally pastoral nomads, who have clung to their ancient way of life; living in harmony with their environment and the wildlife, together with their cattle, with whom they share a strong, almost mystical bond.  Their houses are called Manyatas. This will be an interesting opportunity for you to learn their lifestyles.

Day 19: Masai Mara National Reserve – Nairobi

After an early game drive, breakfast and check out, you will bid Mara Khaheri. You will have a stop at Narok town for shopping and lunch. Our representative will drive you to Nairobi, which is approximately 8 hours’ drive. Arrive at your pre-booked hotel, check in and rest.

Day 20: Nairobi – Amboseli National Park

After breakfast, our representative will drive you to Amboseli National Park which is approximately 4 hours’ drive. Arrive at your pre-booked Safari Lodge in time for lunch. Have lunch; check in and rest. Later enjoy an evening game viewing drive in the park. The park is home to the huge herds of the African Elephant. The park also plays host to lions, buffaloes, the elusive leopard, wildebeest, giraffes, zebras, a variety of antelopes and other smaller plains game. During the dry season it is semi-arid terrains and during the wet season, the seasonal “Amboseli Swamp” becomes home to many species.

Day 21: Amboseli National Park

This day will be spent at Amboseli National Park with Game drives around the park and meals at your lodge.

The park is home to the huge herds of the African Elephant. The park also plays host to lions, buffaloes, the elusive leopard, wildebeest, giraffes, zebras, a variety of antelopes and other smaller plains game. During the dry season it is semi-arid terrains and during the wet season, the seasonal “Amboseli Swamp” becomes home to many species.

Day 22: Amboseli National Park – Tsavo West National Park

Early morning game drive Get back to the Hotel for breakfast. After breakfast, check out and depart for Tsavo West National Park which is approximately 4 hours’ drive. You will arrive just in time for lunch. Check in, have lunch and later have an evening game drive.

From the sight of fifty million gallons of crystal clear water gushing out of from the under parched lava rock that is the Mzima Springs  to the Shetani  lava flows, Tsavo West is a beautiful, rugged wilderness. The savannah ecosystem comprises of open grasslands, scrublands, and Acacia woodlands, belts of riverine vegetation and rocky ridges including the Poacher’s Lookout where visitors can see the teeming herds in the plains below. Tsavo West offers some of the most magnificent game viewing in the world and attractions include elephant, rhino, Hippos, lions, cheetah, leopards, Buffalos, diverse plant and bird species including the threatened corncrake and near threatened Basra Reed Warbler.

Day 23: Tsavo West National Park – Taita Hills Game Sanctuary

After breakfast, you will have a morning game drive. Come back for check out and our representative will drive you to Tsavo East National Park, which is approximately 2 hours’ drive.

After check in and lunch, you will spend the sometime at leisure. Thereafter you will have a Game drive. We will search the sanctuary for wildlife until1830hrs when we return to our lodge.

Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary is a privately owned wildlife sanctuary in Kenya located in the Coast Province in Taita-Taveta District approximately 220 kilometers from Mombasa. Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary covers an area of 280,000 acres (1,100 km2), and is adjacent to Tsavo West National Park and the LUMO Community Wildlife Sanctuary. It hosts Cape buffalo, Elephant, Leopard, Masai lion, Masai Giraffe, Zebra, Hartebeest, Impala, Waterbuck, Thomson’s gazelle, lesser kudu, dik-dik, and other smaller animals, including a great diversity of bird life.

Day 24: Taita Hills Game Sanctuary – Tsavo East National Park

Arise early and have a cup of coffee and head out for an early morning game drive by 0630hrs. We will search this park again for animals against the back drop of a Kenyan sun rise. Thereafter we will return to the lodge by 0830hrs for a full breakfast. After breakfast, you can freshen up and we check out of the lodge and have a small game drive while we exit the park by 1100hrs. Our representative will drive you to Tsavo East National Park, which is approximately 3 hours’ drive. Check in and spend the day at leisure with lunch at the lodge. Later you will have an evening Game Drive.

Day 25: Tsavo East National Park

This day will be spent at Tsavo East National Park with Gamedrives around the park and meals at your lodge.

The sight of dust-red elephant wallowing, rolling and spraying each other with the midnight blue waters of palm-shaded Galana River is one of the most evocative images in Africa. This, along with the 300 kilomtere long Yatta Plateau, the longest lava flow in the world, make for an adventure unlike any other in the Tsavo East. The park forms the largest protected area in Kenya and is home to most of the larger mammals, vast herds of dust –red elephant, Rhino, buffalo, lion, and leopard, pods of hippo, crocodile, waterbucks, lesser Kudu, gerenuk and the prolific bird life features 500 recorded species.

Day 26: Tsavo East National Park – Mombasa

After breakfast, you will have a morning Game Drive. You will check out of the hotel. Our representative will drive you to Malindi which is approximately 4 hours’ drive. Check in at the hotel, have lunch and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 27: Mombasa

After breakfast, you will have a Mombasa city tour and a visit to Fort Jesus. Later you will visit The Mombasa Marine Park, “the allure of natural beauty”. Its blue waters are ideal for wind surfing, water skiing, snorkeling and diving. They also provide a home to a colorful variety of marine species including crabs, starfish, stone fish, cucumbers sea urchins, corals, turtles, sea grasses and interesting migratory birds including crab plovers.

After lunch you will visit Wild Waters where you will engage in water slides.

Day 28: KisiteMpunguti

After breakfast you will visit KisiteMpunguti Marine Park, the home of the Dolphin. Unspoiled, beautiful and sun kissed, the Kisite Marine Park was established to protect the scenic islands and special habitats of a wide range of endemic marine animals and breeding migratory birds. It lies in the coral gardens south of Wasini Island and encompasses three small coral rag forest islands, each with considerable areas of fringing reef. Kisite is one of the most rewarding snorkeling locations at the coast. Visitors can also enjoy bird watching, diving and of course, sunbathing.

Later you will visit the Wasini Island which is within the Marine Park. Here you will have a chance to interact with Wasini community and learn a bit about their culture. You will have lunch at Wasini.

You will also visit the Slave caves. They are vast and some portions are filled with fruit and insect feeding bats. Shimoni caves are reputed to extend 5 km inland connecting to the 3 sister’s caves. These caves served for centuries as ‘Kayas’ or sacred sites of worship and sanctuary for the local community. Later in the 18th and 19th century, the caves are also believed to have served as the holding areas for the thousands of captured slaves who were in transit to the infamous Arabian slave markets of Zanzibar.  You will later be transferred back to your hotel in Mombasa.

Day 29: Mombasa – Nairobi

After your breakfast you will leave all the breezes, the beach, and buffets, the palms to travel back to Nairobi via one hour flight. On arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel for refreshment. Later, our representative will take you to Carnival restaurant for your last dinner. Later you will be taken to your hotel.

Overnight in Nairobi.

 

Day 30: Nairobi – Departure

Depending on your international flight timings, our representative will take you to the airport to catch your flight back home. This will mark the end of your adventurous Kenya experience.
